The Commission is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization consisting of members from the Canton and Stark county areas. Members who represent the area come from all walks of life. They are united by the aims and goals of the Commission and mutual adherence to the spirit and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

▪️OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Greater Canton Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Commission is to mobilize the community to emulate the philosophy, teachings, practices, and spirit
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to promote racial harmony and bring about progressive systemic change.

As a model of diversity, The Commission will:
  •  Celebrate the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
  •  Engage people to resolve racial differences.
  • Remove barriers that inhibit self-determination.
  • Support ideals of peace and justice for all.
  • Equip people with the principles of non-violence as a way of life.
