Black History ART EXHIBITION
A collaboration of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio’s Coming Together
for Good Program and Stark NAACP.
THEME
Celebrating, remembering, and recognizing the achievements by African Americans and their role in
US History and within their communities.
Goodwill’s Coming Together for Good Program and Stark NAACP are excited to present this exhibit
that will hang at The Ken Weber Community Campus.
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for
recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the
event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and
other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every
U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other
countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to
celebrating Black history.
This exhibition is open to local artists or photographers, including high school students.
Submission pieces must be two- dimensional, and all genres and media will be considered.
This show is meant to showcase artwork surrounding African American Heritage, life, and
experiences. All mediums and subject matter are welcome and will feature the works of African
American artists and non-African American artists who depict the African-American experience.
